HEC amendment bill: VCs satisfied after meeting with minister

ISLAMABAD: Chairman Higher Education Commission on Thursday said that a proposed HEC Amendment bill would be tabled in the National Assembly after getting in put from vice chancellors of universities.

Addressing a press conference flanked by vice chancellors of various universities, Javed Laghari said that a meeting of private and public service universities’ chancellors with Federal Minister for Education and Training Sheikh Waqas Akrm remained successful. He said the ministers assured of his cooperation in getting a notification for HEC Task Force issued.

It is to mention here that a private members bill moved by two female lawmakers if approved will place the HEC under the Education Ministry , which education experts and vice chancellors said would hamper growth and progress of higher education in the country.
