MUMBAI: Australia beat England by 2 runs in an exciting match of the super six stage of the ICC Women’s World Cup.

Defending a modest total of 147 the Australian bowlers rose to the occasion to dismiss England for 145.

The Australians did not let the English batters settle from the start getting regular break throughs and putting pressure on the English batting line up.

At one stage England had lost 5 wickets with just 38 on the board but then a 57 run 7th wicket stand brought them back in the match.

The Australians were able to hold on to their nerves in the end to register a memorable victory.

The only notable contribution for England came from LS Greenway who scored a painstaking 49 only to see her effort go to waste.

HL Ferling was the pick of the Aussie bowlers taking 3-35. ML Schutt and JL Hunter took 2 wickets a piece.

LC Sthalekar was declared player of the match for her all-round performance.
