KARACHI: SSP Crime Investigation Department (CID), Fayyaz Khan Tuesday said Pakistan Taliban were involved in attacks on gas installations in Karachi and that the gas pipelines at NIPA and Qayumabad were targeted by the terrorists of banned TTP.
Talking to media men here, the SSP CID said terrorists of Tehreek-e-Taliban Swat and Mehsud Group were behind the attacks on gas installations in Karachi.
He said the presence of Taliban in Karachi is not in hundreds but in smaller numbers and they operate as splintered groups.
The SSP said the terrorists hurl a tennis ball stuffed with explosives and flee from the scene and that extortionists are also using this method instead of relying on hand grenades.
SP, Mazhar Mahwani on the occasion said the proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban is trying to grow in strength in the peripheral areas of Karachi. The terrorists are particularly active in Ittehad Town, Sohrab Goth and Katchi Abadies.
