GILGIT: An earthquake of magnitude 5.6 on the Richter scale became a wakeup call for the people in the chilled northern area of Pakistan on Sunday morning, Geo News reported.
According to sources the strongest of the jolts were felt in Chitral and many other districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan.
“Fearing for their lives the residents scurried out after their houses took to wobbling violently. Fortunately the jolter did not last long”, sources said.
Casualties of any sort have not been reported thus far from the quake-hit areas, which also include Khyber Agency, Malakand Division, Shanghla, Kohistan, etc.
The Met Department was yet to pinpoint the epicenter of the seismic activity.
The earthquake, reportedly, caused no damage anywhere.
