ISLAMABAD: Federal minister for law, Farooq H Naek says an amendment bill for the formation of new provinces will be tabled in the Senate next week, Geo News report.

“The new provinces will be formed on the administrative/economic basis rather than language/ethnicity”, said he talking to media here.

The bill would not be sent to the President for promulgation until it passed the Punjab Assembly with a two-third majority, Naek added.

"The bill will land in Punjab Assembly after the upper and lower houses give it a go-ahead", the law minister said.

Replying to a question, he said he was hopeful the provincial lawmakers would give this bill the needed 'ayes' after the parliamentarians in Islamabad.
