KARACHI: The latest armed attack that left a Pakistan Navy officer injured marked the second such attack, targeting a navy official in short span of a month in the violence stricken Karachi.
Police said unknown armed men fired shots at Azeem Haider, a lieutenant commander, near Karachi port and managed to flee on Wednesday morning.
The officer sustained four bullet wounds and was taken to Navy’s Sifa Hospital where he is being kept on ventilator.
Sources said that Mr Haider was one of those officers who had been part of an investigation into an audacious militant attack on Pakistan’s Navy Mehran Base facility. According to the ISPR the officer was now associated with Education Department of the Navy.
On February 7, Lieutenant Asif Kazmi along with his spouse was injured when a bomb planted under their vehicle went off.
However, media wing of the Pakistan army didn’t provide details regarding the attack.
