KARACHI: Police on Sunday registered an FIR into a botched kidnapping attempt in Karachi’s posh locality on Saturday.

The case was registered at Boat Basin Police Station on behalf of Samia, who said that unknown men tried to kidnap her along with her children when she arrived at a shopping mall located in Clifton.

She said that the kidnapping attempt was made in the parking lot but was foiled as a security guard fired shots.

Police in their initial investigation have discovered that the address on the registration papers of the car used in the kidnapping attempt is false.

According to sources, the son of a well known individual is believed to be involved in the kidnapping attempt; however no arrest has been made

Sources add that the recovered vehicle and phone were being used by the son of this well known person.

The CCTV video of the incident has been released according to which four people including a woman were involved in the kidnapping attempt. The car inside the parking lot is clear seen in the CCTV video and the woman and children who were being kidnapped are also clearly seen leaving the car when it was stopped by security guards at the mall.

A second car is also seen in the CCTV video obtained from outside the mall making a getaway.
