ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan has issued the code of conduct for security officials, foreign observers, and polling staff for the upcoming general elections, Geo News reported Friday.

Polling officers would be bound to oblige with the high authorities and discharge their duties without any prejudice. While foreign dignitaries including observers would have to respect Pakistan's sovereignty.

According to the Election Commission, the permission for foreign observers would be cancelled if they violated the code of conduct and they would not be allowed to stay in Pakistan after expiry of their visas. They would not be allowed to comment in personnel capacity on media.

The security officials would be bound to comply with the orders of returning and presiding officers on polling day and would not enter polling stations without being directed by the presiding officers.

According to the ECP code of conduct law enforcement agencies would be responsible for security and transportation of election material.
