QUETTA: The government and opposition in Balochistan have reached a consensus on the name of Ghaus Bakhsh Barozai for caretaker chief minister, Geo News reported.

The announcement was made by Chief Minister Aslam Raisani and Opposition leader Nawabzada Tariq Magsi while addressing a joint press conference.

Maulana Wasay and PML-N leaders were also present on the occasion.

Maulana Wasay while announcing withdrawal of petition, filed over issue of opposition leader in Balochistan Assembly, said by withdrawing the plea he wanted to give a message that politicians could sit on the negotiating table.

Tariq Magsi said opposition had reached consensus on the name of Barozai and Chief Minister Raisani has also agreed on this name.

Chief Minister Raisani added that representatives had illustrated political maturity.

Ghaus Baksh Barozai is likely to be sworn in as the caretaker chief minister on March 23.
