LONDON/KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement Chief Altaf Hussain has said that a conspiracy to divide the oppressed people of Karachi, belonging to different ethnic groups, has been hatched through delimitation of constituencies in the metropolis.
He was addressing a gathering of party workers belonging to minorities and various ethnic groups late night.
Mr Hussain said that his party won’t let any such conspiracy succeed.
He said it was evident in the history that oppressors kept pursuing policy of divide and rule in order to be in power.
Speaking about Pervez Musharraf’s return to Pakistan, the MQM chief said that the former president had the right to do politics just like leadership of the Pakistan People’s Party and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz did.
He said that if anybody wanted to welcome Musharraf upon his arrival it was his legal right. Hussain made it clear the MQM had neither asked anybody to receive the former president nor stopped people to do so.
Altaf Hussain said that it was incumbent upon the federal and the provincial governments to provide security to Pervez Musharraf.
He said that there was no justification to arrest the former military ruler as he was already provided protective bail by the court.
