SYRACUSE: A central New York couple's Jersey show cow has been sold at an auction for a record-breaking $170,000.

Karlie the dairy cow was bought by Arethusa Farm of Bantam, Conn., during an auction held Monday in Onondaga Hill, just outside Syracuse, according to the Post-Standard of Syracuse.

According to the American Jersey Cattle Association's Jersey Journal, the previous record-high price for a Jersey cow sold at auction was the $92,000 paid for a cow raised in Dutchess County.

Aaron and Caitlin Eaton of Onondaga Hill were part owners of Karlie, a breeding cow that had one calf herself and several other offspring born by surrogates. (AP)
