ISLAMABAD: The second electoral phase relating to the filing of appeals with the election tribunals against decisions of Returning Officers, accepting or rejecting nomination papers concluded today (April 10).

The election tribunals across the country have till April 17 to dispose of the appeals filed till today.

On the last day of filing appeals, former military dictator Pervez Musharraf also submitted a plea challenging the rejection of his candidacy from Kusoor and Karachi while five appeals were submitted against the acceptance of his nomination from NA-32 Chitral.

Earlier, today the LHC tribunal denied hearing an appeal against acceptance of Pakistan Muslim League-N President Nawaz Sharif’s nomination from NA 120, saying some other tribunal may take up this appeal.

In Jhang, nominations of Faisel Saleh Hayat and Abid Imam were declared valid.

Nearly 100 appeals were submitted to the Election Appellate Tribunal of Peshawar High Court.
