ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court pf Pakistan (SC) on Monday barred Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) from issuing 200 CNG licences, approved in the tenure of former prime minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Geo News reported.

A three-member SC bench, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was hearing the case concerning licences of CNG stations issued in the tenure of two former prime ministers.

During the hearing, the SC sought procedure of issuing gas station licences in the four provinces and the federal capital Islamabad.

It also stated the court should be informed how much gas is available in the country and on what basis the licences are issued.

The court also ordered secretary petroleum for investigation into import of thousands of gas cylinders without opening Letter of Credit (L/C).
