ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khuwaja Asif has challenged the appointments and transfers on key government posts during the caretake set up in the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Geo News reported Monday.
The PML-N leader has challenged the postings of Chairman National Highway Authority, Chairman NEPRA, MD Sui Southern and Sui Northern, MD Pakistan Mineral, Chairman National Fertilizers, MD OGDC, Chairman State Life, Chairman PTDC, Chairman Software Export Board and DG FIA along with appointments and transfers in Pakistan Telecommunication.
The petitioner Khuwaja Asif was of the view that caretaker government has exceeded its mandate by appointing new people and transferring existing officers on key positions, and demanded the SC to suspends such appointments.
He further stated that caretaker federal government has no right to make such appointments or transfers. Therefore, the court should declare them null and void for being unconstitutional and illegal.
Khuwaja Asif has made Federation of Pakistan and caretaker prime minister parties in the case.
On the other hand, the spokesman of Prime Minister House clarified that all postings and transfers have been done after due diligence, examination and deliberations in consultation with Establishment Division on the basis of reports and summaries from ministries concerned highlighting and underscoring need for change of incumbents either for inefficiency, incompetence or on grounds of unsuitability etc.
