HANGU: The security forces have arrested TTP commander Mufti Hamid, allegedly involved in killing of Farid Khan, a Pakistan Tehreek-e- Insaf (PTI) Member of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, in a joint operation.

Khan was killed when armed men sprayed bullets on his vehicle in Mohalla Sangerh in Hangu city on Monday. Farid Khan and his driver died on the spot while his brother sustained injuries in the deadly attack.

His funeral prayers would be held at 10:00 am in Darvezi Palosa. Farid Khan, along with his brother Shah Nawaz and driver Ayaz Khan, was on his way home after offering Fateha in the Speena area when unidentified armed men opened fire on his vehicle near the Shahi Mosque at 5:35pm.
Farid Khan was killed on the spot while his brother Shah Nawaz and driver Ayaz Khan Nawaz and driver Ayaz Khan were critically injured. They were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Hangu where the driver succumbed to his injuries. The news of his death prompted hundreds of people in Hangu to reach the hospital.
Farid Khan, 42, belonged to a poor family of Rabiakhel tribe in Orakzai Agency. The residents of 29 villages had fielded him as their consensus candidate to contest the recent election from PK-42 Hangu and got him elected him as MPA. Farid Khan later joined the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

His close relatives say Farid Khan had only 100 rupees in his pocket when he had visited office of the returning officer to submit his nomination papers.
