KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Dr. Farooq Sattar Tuesday claimed a sham ‘media trial’ was being plotted against MQM by kidnapping and then torturing party workers into confessing crimes they never committed, Geo News reported.
In this regard Dr Sattar filed a petition in the Sindh High Court seeking whereabouts of missing party workers.
The petitioner, in the petition submitted, said that during last four months at least nine MQM workers were kidnapped by the Rangers and police.
The petition, filed by Barrister Farogh Naseem, also stated that the MQM workers, Fahim Riaz, Farooq Ahmed, Zeeshan Gul, Usman Ahmed, Saeed Aftab Alam, Mohammad Asif, Arshad and Ayaz Hassan, were still missing and had been abducted by security personnel.
Sattar, in the plea, demanded of the government and courts to take notice of such adventurism against MQM, calling on them to have party’s missing activists recovered.
The petitioner pleaded the court to direct the respondents to divulge the information about whereabouts of the missing workers. He cited Interior secretary, home secretary, IG Sindh, DIG South, In-charge SIU and CID and SHOs of police stations concerned as respondents.
The petition would come up for hearing on Wednesday.
