KARACHI: Three picnicking bathers, who along with hundreds of others retreated to Hawke’s Bay to escape the scorching heatwave engulfing the coastal metropolis, drowned after they swam too far into the choppy seawaters here on Sunday.

Mauripur police officials said that the deceased were identified as Faisal Zaidi, a resident of Shah Faisal Colony, Shahral, Defence Housing Authority, Fazal-ul-Hussain of Malir.

The bodies of all three victims were recovered and handed over to their families, the police added.
