KARACHI: Two women lost their lives and two others were injured when a stampede occurred during ration distribution at NIPA intersection in Gulshan-e-Iqbal area of Karachi Monday morning, Geo News reported.

According to reports, ration distribution among the needy families was taking place in a marriage hall at NIPA intersection where a large number of women had gathered and were waiting for their turn.

While the management was giving out food items, women hastily tried to collect the items that led to a stampede, killing two women while two others were injured.

The injured and bodies were shifted to the hospital.

Police added that the tragic incident occurred due to mismanagement. SSP Imran Shaukat confirmed that the police had not been informed about the planned distribution.
