KARACHI: Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council has stated that there is no chance of Ramazan moon sighting in various areas of the country and the first day of Ramazan is likely to fall on Thursday (July 11), Geo News reported.
According to the research council, there was no chance of moon sighting in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northern and tribal areas, adding that despite clear weather in Gwadar and Jiwani there was very low chance of moon visibility.
The council further says that it is essential for crescent visibility that its birth time must be more than 19 hours and the difference between sunset and moon disappearance should be 40 minutes.
The age of moon today (Tuesday) is more than 30 hours, however, the difference between sunset and moon is less than 40 minutes while in Quetta this duration is 33 minutes, Lahore 31 minutes and Peshawar, Rawalpindi and Islamabad 29 minutes.
Whereas, in Karachi, Jiwani and Gwadar the time difference is 37 minutes, therefore, there is no chance of moon sighting in these areas.
