KARACHI: The body of alleged mastermind of attack on Sindh High Court (SHC) senior judge, Justice Maqbool Baqar, has been handed over the heirs at Jinnah Hospital, Geo News reported.

Accused Bashir Laghari succumbed to injuries at hospital on night between Wednesday and Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, son of Bashir Laghari claimed that his father was injured in fake encounter, adding that police entered into their house and injured his father. Police, later, took their licensed weapon and declared it a shootout.

He denied any link of his father with Sipa-e-Sahaba or Lashkar-e-Jhangvi.

The heirs of Bashir Laghari, while receiving the body, also staged protest demonstration.

The deceased will be laid to rest in Dera Ghazi Khan.

It may be noted here that police had claimed to arrest alleged Bashir Laghari after encounter on night between Tuesday and Wednesday.

Police said the alleged mastermind, along with three accomplices, was arrested in injured condition during an action in Sarjani town. The accused belong to Asif Chotu group of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, the police said.
