ISLAMABAD: The newly constituted Council of Common Interests (CCI) will meet for the first time here today (Tuesday) to chalk out a new energy policy keeping in view the yawning supply-demand gap giving rise to rolling blackouts across Pakistan, Geo News reported.

According to sources, all the four chief ministers and other members of the council will attend the meeting to be chaired by Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif.

The stakeholders will be taken into confidence on the current power supply & demand situation and government's plans to overcome the shortfall.

Sources also said that the meeting would also deliberate on tightening the laws for power/gas theft and may suggest imposing even stricter punitive measures on the pilferers.

The meeting will also discuss recently agreed bailout loan package with the International Monetary Fund.
