LAHORE: Jamat-e-Islami (JI) Secretary General Liaquat Baloch Tuesday termed the attempts for postponement of presidential election as inappropriate and stressed that the poll be held no later than August 6, Geo News reported.

Talking to newsmen here, Mr. Baloch noted the Punjab government could not restore local body system in its previous tenure and now that the Supreme Court has issued an order to conduct local government elections, so the polls should be held on party basis without dilly-dallying.

He further said that violation of human rights was going on in Bangladesh, while democracy in Egypt has also been derailed.

Liaquat Baloch also called for having a candidate from Balochistan to contest the presidential election.
