MANSEHRA: A police officer was martyred and five dacoits were killed on Friday during a failed armed robbery at the main bank branch on Shinkiari Road.

Police said, the dacoits had entered the United Bank branch at 1:00 PM and snatched cash from the bank staff at the counter.

In the meantime, the bank manager Muhammad Saeed informed
the police about the incident.

The police party rushed to the bank branch and during encounter with the dacoits, Station House Officer (SHO) Mubarik Khan was martyred, besides killing of two dacoits on the spot.

SHO Sadar, cadet Farooq, bank guard Abdul Sattar, and traffic
constable Amjad were injured during the encounter.

The three dacoits managed to flee but the police continued to chase them. Later, the police killed the three dacoits in a locality of Abbottabad and recovered the looted amount of Rs10 million from them.
