KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) is all set to present draft bill for the Local Bodies system before the Sindh Assembly today (Monday), Geo News reported.

According to sources, the PPP is expected to get the draft bill passed from the assembly without incorporating the recommendations of the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM), as the latter has outright rejected the proposed law.

Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Qaim Ali Shah chaired a meeting of PPP’s ministers and leaders which was attended among others by Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani, Syed Owais Muzaffar, Sharjeel Memon and Dr Sikander Mandhro.

Sindh Assembly Speaker, Agha Siraj Durrani briefed the Sindh CM about the details of contacts made and meetings held with Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N), Awami National Party (ANP), PML-F and nationalist parties in connection with proposed bill. He said some of the recommendations put forth by these parties were also made part of the bill.

The members were also taken into confidence over the draft bill in the meeting of PPP Sindh’s parliamentary party.
