Islamabad standoff case: Arms supplier sent on remand

ISLAMABAD: An accused named Akhtar involved in the Islamabad standoff case has been handed over to police on two-day physical remand Wednesday, Geo News reported.

Judge Atiq-ur-Rehman of Islamabad anti-terrorism court (ATC) heard the case today where the police presented Akhtar before the court. He is accused of providing weapon to the primary accused Sikandar.

Police had sought three-day physical remand of the accused but the ATC approved only two days.

On August 15, Malik Sikandar along with his wife harassed Islamabad city for more than five hours.

Sikander, armed with at least two assault rifles, an AK-47 and a latest sub machine gun (SMG), started shooting at Jinnah Avenue.

The armed standoff, finally came to a heroic end after an unarmed Pakistan Peoples Party leader, Zamarud Khan risking his life attacked the armed man leading to his arrest.
