LAHORE: A local court on Thursday issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Mustafa Kanju in a case for keeping an unlicensed kalashanikov.
The court issued the warrants after the accused failed to appear before the court. The court also ordered police to arrest Kanju and present him in the next hearing.
Today’s hearing was conducted in the court of Judicial Magistrate Akram Azad. During the course of hearing, the investigation officer told the court that Mustafa Kanju had opened fire with an unlicensed Kalashnikov and killed Zain who was passing by.
The public prosecutor said the accused did not even appear before the court to prove his innocence.
The court then issued non-bailable warrants against Mustafa Kanju and adjourned the hearing till January 5.
Earlier, Mustafa Kanju had been acquitted by an anti-terrorism court after the witnesses had backtracked from their statements.
The decision was later challenged by the Punjab government in Lahore High Court (LHC).
