KARACHI: The Ulema of Deoband school of thought have condemned with one voice the deadly attack on a Church in Peshawar in which 83 men, women and children perished and more than 100 others sustained wounds.
“Attacks like these are in total violation of the teachings of Quran and Sunnah,” said a joint statement of Mufti Taqi Usmani, Dr Abdul Razzaq, Maulana Salimullah and Maulana Mufti Rafi Usmani.
They said that such attacks are tantamount to blemishing the name of Pakistan. “The attack on the Church has, indeed, been executed as part of an anti-Islam and anti-state conspiracy,” they observed.
The Ulema said that the Quran and Sunnah advocate protection to the life and property of all the citizens without any discrimination.
