KARACHI: Residents from Karachi's Lyari area took to the streets on Friday protesting the killing of a Lyari resident by members of the gang-war. Demanding justice the protesters marched with the intention to register their complaint outside the Rangers headquarters located at the Jinnah Courts.
The deceased identified as 28-year-old Jehanzeb was a trader in Lyari who was killed by the gang-war members for refusing to pay extortion money.
A heavy contingent of Police met the protesters as they marched down I.I. Chundrigar road restricting them from marching on to the Rangers headquarters where they wished to register their protest.
Due to the protest at Shaheen Complex roads were closed traffic diversion from Shaheen Complex to M.R kiyani rd & Khajoor Chowk to Fawara Chowk Continue.
Following negotiations with Police and assurances from Rangers officials that a crackdown would be conducted against those involved in the killing within three days, the protesters ended their march a little before 7:00PM.
