FAISLABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Punjab President, Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed Sunday said that an awareness campaign has been launched ahead of a country-wide protest against the government.

“The call for protest will be given after Eid-ul-Azha,” he said while addressing a press conference here.

He said the Pakistan Muslim League-N shattered the expectations of the people by its failure to fulfill the promises it made to the people as part of the election campaign. “Instead of breaking the begging bowl, they allowed it grow even bigger in size,” he regretted, saying that the people instead of getting relief are undergoing greater hardships.

He said the people have become fed up of the PML-N government and its proof was the crushing defeat of the ruling party’s candidate in the recent by-election on PP-72.

Mehmood-ur-Rasheed claimed that Shahbaz Sharif had no interest in the Punjab government, as Hamza Shahbaz was running the affairs of the entire province.

He said if Shahbaz Sharif was more interested in the federal government he should resign as Chief Minister and become a federal minister or deputy prime minister and put Hamza Shahbaz in his present post.

He alleged that rigging has already been initiated through gerrymandering and release of funds ahead of the local bodies’ elections. However, he said that the PML-N is no longer in a position to win the people’s support one more time.
