ISLAMABAD: The case concerning elections of the PCB chairman was heard in the Islamabad High Court.
During the hearing, the Election Commission Pakistan (ECP) council informed the court that according to the constitution the ECP cannot hold the elections for the PCB chairman.
Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui was not convinced by this statement and asked the ECP to take all measures necessary to hold the election.
In his reply the ECP council said that the ECP had already been ordered by the Supreme Court to hold local bodies’ elections and suggested that the PCB chairman’s election could be held under the supervision of Justice(R) Asad Munir.
Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui asked the ECP council to assure that technical assistance would be provided by the ECP.
The Election commission council said that he will have to get permission from the ECP before giving any such assure.
