LAHORE: Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan Thursday said if the federal government failed to engage in peace talks with the Taliban, his party would be compelled to initiate the process on its own.

“And in case there is a drone strike during the course of the dialogue, we would go ahead and stop the NATO supplies,” Imran Khan warned while addressing a programme here at the Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI).

He said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been ‘struck by a storm’ and yet the proposed dialogue is continued to be delayed while all that the Prime Minister could do was read out points from chits.

Imran Khan said he could foresee that the inflation would continue to hit new peaks, forcing people to eventually come out on streets.

He called for starting the legal proceedings in Pakistan in connection with Asif Zardari’s six billion dollars stashed in Swiss Banks.

After presiding over a meeting of the PTI’s parliamentary party, its chief said had the rigging of the previous elections been caught, there would have been no preparations for another (pre-poll) rigging today.

“We would meet everyone to ensure transparent elections,” said Imran, demanding disposal of electoral cases at the earliest, failing which, he said, his party would stage the biggest protest demonstration in Islamabad.
