PESHAWAR: A US drone fired two missiles in North Waziristan tribal region near Afghan border, targeting a residential compound, sources said late Thursday night.

They said that the attack took place in Meeranshah, main town of North Waziristan Agency.

The sources said that the unmanned aircraft was continually flying in the area. There was no report of any casualty so far.

The attack comes amid protest against the US drone attacks by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ruling alliance led by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

The protesters have blocked Nato supplies from and to Afghanistan and accused US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) director and its station chief in Islamabad of murdering people in drone attacks.
