PESHAWAR: Oil tankers’ owners, who continued supplies to foreign troops on Afghan soil over a decade long war despite repeated Taliban attacks, are now visibly perturbed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and its allies’ decision to block Nato supplies, which they say also suspended oil supplies to Afghanistan other than foreign troops.

The owners warned of stopping oil supplies to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa if the supplies to Afghanistan were not restored within 72 hours.

The KP ruling alliance launched a campaign to block Nato supplies following a rare US drone attack in one of country’s settled Hangu district, killing key figures of Haqqani Network, a deadly faction of Afghan Taliban.

It is unclear whether the PTI, which rules the roost in the northwestern province, will be able to cope with the situation if the oil tankers owners materialize their plan. However, anti-US sentiments run high in Pakistan, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, due to CIA operated drone attacks.
