QUETTA: Dr Munaf Tareen, who was kidnapped in September this year,has been recovered in Othal, sources told Geo News on Sunday.

The doctor, whose kidnapping triggered large scale protests by doctor fraternity, was kidnapped from Pasheen stop area of the provincial capital. His captors had demanded Rs50 million ransom for his release.

However, it was yet to be known whether his release was secured through paying ransom money.

Cardiologist Dr Munaf Tareen was abducted on September 18 when he was on his way to his house from his private hospital at Pishin Stop. The abductors, firing gunshots in the air, took him away along with his vehicle.

Police expressed ignorance about the recovery of the cardiologist, who will travel to Karachi after being recovered from Othal area of Balochistan.
