KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has challenged the new delimitation of constituencies in Karachi in the Sindh High Court on Wednesday, terming it as unconstitutional and non-democratic, Geo News reported on Wednesday.
MQM leaders Farooq Sattar filed the petition in the high court, challenging the new delimitation in Karachi. In the petition, he stated that the delimitation is equivalent to pre-poll rigging and alleged that erroneous delimitation is being done to achieve political aims, thus, terming the delimitation as unconstitutional and non-democratic.
Dr Farooq Sattar further alleged that it is an effort to damage MQM’s mandate in Malir and Karachi South. Therefore, the court should declare it null and void.
He further said that efforts are being made to hijack the mayorship of Karachi.
