ISLAMABAD: Federal Secretary for Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development (OP&HRD) Munir Qureshi Thursday termed the overseas Pakistani as roaming ambassador of the country in an inauguration ceremony of OPF NADRA Swift Centre at OPF head office.
Apprising the importance of overseas Pakistanis, he emphasized that the following segment of the society is asset and a source of great foreign exchange for the country.
Munir Qureshi informed the participants that as many as seven million Pakistanis are residing in 115 countries across the world in which 52 percent of the overseas Pakistanis are working in Middle East, 30 percent in Europe and 18 percent in the United States of America (USA) etc.
Iftikhar Babar Managing Director Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) said that it is OPF’s top priority to facilitate overseas Pakistanis at maximum level under one roof and trying to extend the radius of its services in various fields such as education, health and housing schemes etc.
OPF has already started Free Bus Service for Overseas Pakistanis at Benazir Bhutto International Airport and this OPF & NADRA Swift Centre will deliver National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP), Pakistan Origin Card (POC) and OPF Membership Card within a shortest span of time on the same day.
He added that these initiatives will be taken at other OPF regional offices too in near future.
On the occasion the Chairman NADRA was also present, who informed that NADRA has opened 22 service and 175 receiving centres in ten countries. These centers have facilitated round about 125 000 people POCs and 214 000 smart cards which are acceptable more than 100 civil aviation around the world.
