KARACHI: Police in Karachi successfully foiled a major terrorism plot on Wednesday when they arrested four suspected Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorists after a gun-fight in an upscale part of the city, officials said.
According to officials, police personnel carried out the raid after they received information of the presence of the suspected terrorists in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Phase 1 area.
Personnel were engaged in a gunfight with the suspects before they successfuly nabbed them.
The suspects were identified as Hanif alias Nadeem Kala, Ashraf Ali alias Bholu, Rehmat Shah, and Zahid Hussain, and were said to belong to the banned TTP.
One kilograms of explosive material was also recovered from the suspects, police officials said.
The suspects were planning a major terror attack in the city, they said.
