KARACHI: Activists of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) clashed near Bilawal House as the former was set to stage sit-in against the barriers surrounding Bilawal House.

The activists of both the parties pelted stones at each other, forcing the police to detain violent elements.

Police also blocked various routes heading to Bilawal House by placing containers.

Meanwhile, PPP leader Abdul Qadir Patel held PTI's leader Dr Arif Alvi responsible for the untoward incident that took place near Bilawal House.

He said that the PTI's protest is an attempt to divert the attention of masses from local bodies elections.

SP Clifton said unauthorized persons would not be allowed to move towards Bilawal House.

The PTI leaders from Clifton and DHA have been publicly campaigning for reopening the tracks closed for traffic in front of Bilawal House.

On Saturday, the PPP opened the road adjacent to Bilawal House.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Sindh High Court had ordered opening the blocked roads on September 4.
