KARACHI: Sindh Information Minister, Sharjeel Memon Saturday said some elements within the ranks of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) were conspiring against its chief Altaf Hussain.

“People within the MQM are dispatching misleading figures to Altaf Hussain,” he claimed while addressing a press conference here.

He further said that Altaf Hussain’s demand for a separate province can be an attempt to divert attention from former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf’s treason trial or from the ongoing targeted crackdown on criminals in Karachi.

Sharjeel Memon said that Patron-in-Chief of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was pursuing the policy of reconciliation as put forth by his mother Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. “It is under this policy that Bilawal deems Altaf Hussain his uncle but he (Bilawal) has greater love for Sindh and its people,” he added.

He said all the inhabitants of Sindh are brothers and there existed no division in the thoughts of people at the grass roots level. “Raising slogans for division or seeding such ideas is a conspiracy against Pakistan,” he regretted.
