ISLAMABAD: The MQM and ANP staged a walkout during the Senate session on Friday over the situation in Karachi.

There was a heated debate during the session over the situation in Karachi. MQM leader Tahir Mashadi said 150 workers of his party had been killed in the city. “The city of Karachi is no longer worth living in,” Mashadi added.

Shahi Syed from the ANP demanded a military operation in Karachi, stating that workers from his party were being targeted. Syed added that terrorism could not be eliminated until terrorist safe havens were destroyed.

Earlier during the session, Syed Ghani presented a resolution to pay tribute to SP CID Chaudhry Aslam and Aitizaz Hasan the student who sacrificed his life to stop a suicide bomber in Hangu. The resolution was unanimously approved.
