ISLAMABAD: The special court hearing the treason case of former President General (retd) Pervez Musharraf turned down the plea to symbolically arrest the accused on Friday, Geo News reported.

A three-judge bench of the court, headed by Justice Faisal Arab, had summoned the former president on January 16 after giving its verdict pertaining to the proceedings of the case under criminal procedure.

During today’s proceedings, prosecutor Akram Sheikh pleaded the court for Musharraf’s symbolic arrest that was turned down by the court. On this, Akram Sheikh questioned that who will be responsible if Musharraf left the country.

In his response, Justice Faisal Arab said that the court has been informed that Musharraf’s name is already on the exit control list.

Musharraf had fallen ill en route to the court on January 02. The former president was taken to the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology where has been receiving treatment.
