KARACHI: A large number of people took to the streets and held protest demonstration in different parts of the city against Mastung suicide attack which claimed 24 lives.
According to Geo News reporter, sit-ins were being staged at Numaish Chowrangi, Teen Talwar, Ancholi, Five Star, Malir and Abbas Town.
A sit-in was organised by the Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) on MA Jinnah Road on Wednesday to express solidarity with the families of those martyred in the Mastung bomb attack and the protesters who have taken to the streets in Quetta since then.
The protest was well-attended, as men, women and children, turned out in large numbers to voice their angst over the tragic incident. However, as is the expected but ignored norm in Karachi, the closing down of MA Jinnah Road led to a traffic mess.
With traffic being diverted on to alternate routes without any measures to ensure its smooth regulation, massive jams were reported at several points in the city, including Purani Numaish, New M A Jinnah Road, Soldier Bazaar, Garden, Lasbella, Patel Para and Golimar. The Sharea Faisal, a central thoroughfare of Karachi, was also reportedly packed with traffic till late in the night.
