Nation celebrates 103rd birth anniversary of Faiz

LAHORE: Today the nation celebrates 103rd birth anniversary of Faiz Ahmed Faiz – the magician of a poet who not only did mellow poetry but also made use of words as weapons to wage a battle against religious extremism, tyranny and authoritarianism.

Let’s sing happy birthday to the legend who had a great regard for humanity and was particularly sensitive to the agonies of a common man.

The recipient of Lennon Award, Faiza Ahmed Faiz not just fought with the help of words but also underwent the hardships of incarceration and exile.

Drenched in melody, Faiz’s poetry has, over the decades, transformed into a full-fledged movement with an aim to put the people in the ruling position and to empower the oppressed and downtrodden segments of society.
