WASHINGTON: The administration of the hospital where Shahzaib Bajwa is being treated said his family would have to bear the cost of treatment if the visa status of the Pakistani student was resolved.
In a teleconference held between the hospital administration, US State Department and Foreign Office, matters relating to Shahzaib’s visa, medical treatment and its cost were discussed.
The US State Department assured to resolve the visa issue while the hospital administration provided details of Shahzaib’s condition.
His brother Shahraiz Bajwa told Geo News that the Pakistani Consulate in Chicago had said Shahzaib would be issued a new visa next week.
Shahzaib Bajwa, 20, has been in a coma since last November when a deer struck a car carrying him and his friends from the city of Minneapolis back to the University of Wisconsin-Superior where he was spending a semester abroad.
