PESHAWAR: Leader Jamat-e-Islami and member Taliban-appointed committee Prof Ibrahim Wednesday said the government committee’s demand for a one-sided ceasefire is beyond comprehension, and called for a bilateral move to hold fire.

In a statement, Prof Ibrahim said the government should also announce a ceasefire, as a demanding it from one side makes no sense.

He said it seemed the process of negotiations has begun on the media which may prove detrimental to the talks.

The negotiator from the Taliban proposed panel admitted that there existed an impasse between the two committees. “Negotiations haven’t moved forward from the point where they had stuck after the deadlock,” he added.
