Woman attempts self-immolation after alleged rapists set free

MUZAFFARGARH: A girl set herself on fire after police declared five men innocent who allegedly subjected her to a gang rape.

According to details, the girl set herself on fire outside the police station after police gave the accused a clean chit.

The girl who torched herself in the public was allegedly gang raped on January 5.

Following the incident, the police lodged a case of attempt to rape against the five accused.

One of the men nominated in the case as accused had been arrested a day earlier. He had already obtained a pre-arrest bail and, therefore, he was released today.

As the girl learned about his release, she came outside the police station and torched herself. Police and passersby rushed to rescue the girl and immediately shifted her to a Nishtar Hospital where her condition is said to be critical.

Doctors say the girl has suffered burn injuries on 70 percent of her body.
