MULTAN: The victim of a gang-rape in Muzaffargarh passed away at a local hospital here on Friday.

The victim attempted suicide by setting herself on fire outside the Bait Mir Hazar Khan police station after the main accused in the case were set-free on March 13.

The 18 year old victim had received serious burns and succumbed to her injuries at the Nishtar Hospital in Multan on Friday morning.

Earlier, on January 5, the victim had lodged an FIR, stating that she was going to her college when accused Nadir Khan and his four accomplices gang-raped her near the Bait Mir Hazar Chowk. SI Investigation Officer Zulfiqar conducted an investigation and declared the main accused, Nadir Khan, innocent.

CJ Takes Suo Moto Notice

Chief Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani has taken suo moto notice of the incident. Notices have been issued to IG Punjab, DPO Muzaffargarh and Advocate General. A report from IG Punjab has been summoned on March 17.
