Time for govt committee, Taliban to come to table: Maulana Sami

AKORA KHATTAK: The head of the Taliban negotiation committee, Maulana Samiul Haq Friday noted that it is high time the government committee and the Taliban were brought to the dialogue table.

Maulana Sami was talking to media following his meeting with the delegation that returned from North Waziristan after holding discussions with Taliban leaders.

Maulana Sami said he had also held a detailed discussion with the Taliban leadership.

“It is now time that the government committee and Taliban are brought to the table,” he asserted, adding "we will take the government committee to the Taliban to hold a meeting."

Maulana Sami said the Taliban negotiation committee will be meeting with the government body tomorrow or the day after. The discussion will focus on the upcoming meeting between the government committee and the Taliban, he added.

He said the Prime Minister himself was overseeing the ongoing peace process.
