MULTAN: In search of buried treasure a man dug a 50-foot deep tunnel but ended up being buried alive when the tunnel collapsed around him. Efforts to locate the man ended in vain due to the high risk of further casualties if rescue personnel climbed down the narrow shaft.

According to sources, Zeeshan a resident of Bagh Beera dug up part of his house in a bid to retrieve hidden treasure on the advice of a fake peer.

Rescue officials, made attmepts to locate the twenty-two year old which ended Sunday night after a ten member committee was formed to decide whether to further the search effort, which may require demolition of the building. Experts fear the illegal tunnel may have damaged the structure of the building.

Due to the risk that the tunnel's walls may collapse, rescue officials were reluctant to send any personnel down the deep hole.

A camera was however sent down the hole which has revealed the tunnel expands into a 6x6-foot room which leads to four additional tunnels leading in different directions.
