LONDON: Lead by Senator Babar Ghauri, a delegation of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) reached London’s Wellington hospital to see their embattled leader Altaf Hussain.

However, talking to Geo News later, Babar Ghauri said the delegation was not allowed to see Altaf Hussain as he is in police custody.

He said their request to the concerned authorities to see the MQM Chief is being processed.

Earlier, the delegation, comprising Khwaja Sohail, Salim Zaidi, Qasim Ali Raza, Salim Danish and Arshad Vohra, hoped to meet Altaf Hussain who is presently in the hospital for medical tests.

Altaf Hussain was taken to the facility by London police for his health condition after he was arrested from his residence here on Tuesday morning.

Babar Ghauri talking to media persons outside the hospital said the British officials are well aware of the sentiments of the people of Pakistan for Altaf Hussain. “Consultations with the lawyers are underway in connection with the case. Well known lawyer, Farogh Naseem is also reaching London for providing assistance,” he said.

Babar Ghauri expressed the resolve that Altaf Hussain would once again emerge triumphant. “MQM is a peaceful party and it is Altaf Bhai’s message for the workers to remain peaceful,” he added.
